Want to get away for the weekend, but no time to take a trip?

Hidden away in one of Humble’s quiet neighborhoods, at the end of the street, is a luxurious inn.  Humble’s Best Kept Secret Hideaways is a pair of luxuriously appointed suites.

The dream of Craig and Tracey Ramsey came true in late August when Humble’s Best Kept Secret Hideaway opened.

“We opened on Aug. 28 just before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans .  Our first guests were evacuees from Louisiana .  There were several families that stayed with us, the last left on Oct 2,” said Ramsey.

One evacuee from Metairie wrote, “Craig and Tracey have made this home a port in the storm, we will never be able to express how much this has meant to us.”

“We have also had guests staying with us for the World Series, PGA players, people waiting for their home to be completed and people on extended business,”  Ramsey added

The exterior of the modest steel building does not prepare you for what the interior of this extraordinary inn has to offer.  The front door opens into a spacious kitchen area and great room.  The kitchen is fully equipped with every imaginable dish, pot, pan and appliance.

“We want our guests to feel at home when they are staying with us.  If they want to prepare their own meals, we provide all the kitchen amenities.  We had a man who stayed here for twenty days who barbecued every night,” Ramsey said.

The great room is furnished with large overstuffed leather theater-style seating that reclines.  A large high definition wide screen television with digital cable programming fills the far wall.

The suite’s floor plans are mirror image of one another, but different in décor.

“One suite has a Victorian flavor and the other is more contemporary.  Men usually favor the contemporary suite because is not as frilly,” Ramsey laughingly said.

Each suite has two bedrooms and one large bathroom.  The master bedroom has a king sized bed, television and an en suite office complete with high speed Internet and wi-fi, fax, scanner and copier.  Local and long distance phone service is free.

The focal point of the bathroom is a deep garden tub with waterfall spout.  Hotel style terry cloth robes, slippers and a complete line of special toiletries are available for the comfort of the guests.

“Every morning we provide our guests with a copy of the Houston Chronicle and a selection of warm fresh doughnuts and kolaches.  If our guests do not eat breakfast I provide a gift certificate to one of our local restaurants,” Ramsey added.

Humble’s Best Kept Secret Hideaway is privately owned and operated facility offering first class accommodations in uniquely designed home-like suites.

“We strive to provide our guests on the best,” said Ramsey. “I want our guests to feel they are getting extraordinary value during their stay.”

Rates, based on double occupancy, are $259 per night for special events, $179 daily rate per night, $159 weekly rate per night and $139 monthly rate per night.  Both guest suites are non-smoking and pets are not accepted.

Humble’s Best Kept Secret Hideaway is located at 7801/7803 Royal, Humble, TX.  For reservations call 281-548-2729 or e-mail hideaways@houston.rr.com
